After freezing up and non-response from Google News app, I tried Feedly. Not user-friendly like Google News and Flipboard, a lot of going back and forth, double-checking to make sure it "took", etc... and only 3 categories in the free version wasn't even enough to really try out the app. I went to Flipboard and have been very happy. Flipboard is undoubtedly what you're looking for... and no, I have no connection to Flipboard.

I still use Feedly Classic for everything but search as the browsing experience is much worse in the new version. Marking articles to read later, and clearing read articles takes many more steps. It's so geared to making recommendationdations about AI and cybertech that it gets un the way of my more general reading.

I can't handle the interface of this app. There's always something accidentally swiping from the side or something that makes it accidentally go back to the beginning before I'm done reading. And there seems to be no way to make it show articles in chronological order by default. It always seems to sort them by category instead.
