ARRL Amateur Extra is a type of amateur radio license granted by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) to individuals who have passed an examination demonstrating their knowledge of advanced radio theory, regulations, and operating practices.
The Amateur Extra license is the highest class of amateur radio license in the United States and provides the operator with the most privileges, including access to all amateur radio frequency bands and modes of operation. Holders of the ARRL Amateur Extra license are considered experts in the field of amateur radio and are often called upon to provide technical assistance and leadership in amateur radio organizations and emergency communications situations. They have the highest level of operating privileges and are able to operate on all amateur radio bands and modes, including high-frequency (HF) bands, very high frequency (VHF) and ultra-high frequency (UHF) bands, and microwave frequencies.
