About this app

XGimp is an adaptation for Android of the app GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation), which is a freely distributed program for tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. As a result of that, the app XGimp provides many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, image editor, an expert quality photo retouching program, an image renderer, or an image format converter.

XGimp is the app GIMP that runs remotely, so it has the same features:

- Suite of painting tools including Brush, Pencil, Airbrush, Clone, etc.
- Image editor.
- Sub-pixel sampling for all paint tools for high quality anti-aliasing.
- Extremely powerful gradient editor and blend tool.
- Supports custom brushes and patterns.
- Full alpha channel support.
- Layers and channels.
- Multiple Undo/Redo.
- Editable text layers.
- Transformation tools including rotate, scale, shear and flip.

It also includes a local image editor to modify graphics, images and photos. It is based on the open source app "Pocket Paint":

- This local image editor provides the tools: brush, line tool, cursor, fill tool, stamp, circle/ellipse, cropping, flipping, zooming, rectangle, image importing, eraser, moving, and rotating.
- Drawing in full screen.
- Change the line width and shape.
- Color palette & RGBa values.

Abysmal security. Browsing the XGimp file system, I can't find.my own projects among the hundreds of "guest" folders. Folders which I assume every user has unlimited access to. Which means the two files I edited online ale also out there for everyone. Can't seem to find a way to delete anything off the shared filesystem either.

Major error. I saved a file TWICE, and no app can find the PNG file except this app. Also, settings are missing some features found in the desktop version (and photoshop). Update: I've been using GIMP from the beta testing. On windows it is wonderful. Not so much on a smartphone. It's hard to get the tools to respond, mostly due to screen size, but even with that disappointment, I still have the windows version. To me GIMP is better than Photoshop.

This app crashes constantly, lags, and makes it a nightmare to download your image afterwards. All while displaying ads on a barely functional port of open source software. Final straw was when it locked out all the functionality, displaying "The gay cannot use this program" and "gay detected" at the top and bottom. Yeah real nice. Wish I could post screenshots...

Features are comically limited even when they work, which is extremely rare. I'm an avid user of the desktop version, and I wasn't expecting the full suite of features on this port, but I spent 10 minutes trying and failing to do a simple overlay before giving up. The only things this can do consistently is let you doodle over drawings, and crash. If you're expecting anything else, abandon all hope.
