I've been looking for an app that integrates with tasker and gives me the ability to freeze apps (especially Google Play Services at night), while retaining icons of the disabled app on the home screen(s). Securetask seemed to promise that but Play Services still kept recording under developer options/running services and logging Internet connection attempts under Adhell. I've noted the same behavior for Samsung Health as well. It seems that Securetask's method of freezing isn't water-tight.

There is a BIG difference between device admin, which the description states is needed along with a few simple adb commands & can be easily granted, & device owner, which is also required, not made clear enough in the description, & requires a factory reset (no thanks). I wasted far too much time getting this set up & figuring out how to use it with MacroDroid (can't find instructions ANYWHERE), only to find I can't do what I was trying to do. This requirement needs to be made MUCH clearer.

Can't set this app as device owner and use Google One for backups. Android 14. All I'm looking for is factory reset after x failed unlock attempts (and to have backups enabled). Can't get support from Google without signing up for a premium Google One storage account.

In order to use the factory reset action you don't need to set the app as device owner, you just need to enable it as device admin. In addition if you set the app as device owner you can enable and disable the backup using the backup plugin action via Tasker.
