About this app

The ProFibro mobile application is a tool to help people with fibromyalgia users in self-care. It was designed by professional health experts on the syndrome, with the contribution of other qualified professionals in their respective areas and patients with the syndrome. Its features and content were developed based on clinical experience and the best scientific evidence available in the literature.

Exploring ProFibro app, the user can increase your knowledge about fibromyalgia and its treatment, organize your daily activities, reducing the overhead for monitoring the evolution of their health status, experience strategies to improve sleep, learn to deal with syndrome along with their families, begin an exercise program, record and share their experiences with family, friends, colleagues and health professionals.

The ProFibro app has been tested in a clinical trial with 40 volunteers participating. After six weeks, participants who used the application showed a significant reduction in symptom severity and overall impact of fibromyalgia on the quality of life.

It is a complementary resource to conventional treatment, and should not be used instead of the healthcare professional. It is recommended that you share your experience with the app ProFibro with the health professional that accompanies regularly.

The app was developed by doctoral student ProFibro Susan Lee King Yuan, MSc, under the guidance of Professor. Dra. Amelia Pasqual Marques, the post-graduate program in Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo. The project was funded by FAPESP, São Paulo Research Foundation. The designer Raquel Castro Dantas Cavalcante developed the interface, and technologist in information technology Susiane Rodrigues dos Santos is responsible for application programming. The Sousa Adriana physiotherapists of the Holy Spirit, Juliana Costa Moreira Panaro and Luciana Akemi Matsutani contributed in defining the objectives and application content. Thanks Aquila Nehemiah for the contribution in the production of audio and animation, Leticia Assis Couto for their valuable contribution in the evaluation of the participants and Ingred de Souza allocation in the trial groups. Finally, we thank the volunteers with fibromyalgia who participated in the dedication of the development and application testing in the clinical trial.
