Unfortunately the app is not usable with a combination of app and server error messages. I tried to set up a new account about ten times but there was an app error each time. At this point I gave up on the app and tried using a kiosk on the street instead. The kiosk was stuck on the BIOS boot screen so it was also unusable. I've never had issues like this with bikeshare systems in other cities. It was a huge disappointment not to be able to experience Paris as I had planned for this trip.

Purchased a 1-day pass and successfully installed the app + enabled the NFC feature prior to our trip. Unfortunately the app was not usable: Could not get NFC to work (using a recent Samsung S21) and got a constant stream of server error messages. Had to call the support desk 3 times and they were definitely kind and helpful but overall Velib is an extremely painful experience, so would not recommend at all...

At a station and saw a rare miracle, a worker repairing bicycles. When I wanted to park in the last free slot he said I can't because the bicycle he repairs needs to go there and he has no time to wait for another slot to open up. So instead of demanding of Smovego to come and empty full stations the customer is left alone. Whatever this company does to balance bicycles among stations is not enough since 3 years. This is a scam. I hope they go finally bankrupt and someone competent takes over.
