BlackGentry is a members-only dating app designed for ambitious and intentional singles.

We are a classy community of singles who have themselves together and have high standards. Every profile is reviewed by the membership committee before being accepted. This way you get to be part of a group of quality singles who want something real.

Prospective members can download the app and submit an application. Once submitted, applications are placed on a waitlist and are reviewed by the membership committee. The membership committee looks for quality and detailed profiles with clear images. An applicant’s status can change from waitlist to accepted at any time. Any profile that does not represent these values are rejected and removed.

Our community values are kindness, respect, integrity and growth. Our mission is to provide an online community that makes it easier for Black singles to establish healthier connections and relationships.

All users can chat with their matches for free and also send a limited number of Direct Messages per day (messages to people you haven’t matched with yet). Users can choose to subscribe to Deluxe or VIP to enable more features.

BlackGentry Deluxe is an auto-renewable subscription service provided within the app. Activate BlackGentry Deluxe and get access to send unlimited likes, rewind profiles, hide ads, send unlimited Direct Messages, see who likes you, change locations, and see Second Chance.

BlackGentry VIP is an auto-renewable subscription service provided within the app. Activate BlackGentry VIP and you will get all the features of Deluxe (send unlimited likes, rewind profiles, hide ads, send unlimited direct messages, see who likes you, change locations, see Second Chance) PLUS ability to enable incognito mode and access Gentry Lounge.

Your subscription will be charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase and will automatically renew (at the duration selected) unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Current subscription may not be cancelled during the active subscription period; however, you can manage your subscription to a higher plan and/or turn off auto-renewal by visiting your iTunes Account Settings after purchase.

Subscriptions & purchases are also forfeited if you delete your account. All prices are in U.S Dollars and may vary in other countries other than the U.S. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Subscriptions are tied to only one BlackGentry account and cannot be transferred to new accounts.

Ratings and reviews

No features work. Unable to block or unmatch. No support options. Fake data. Says you have a certain number of Likes but the candidates don't match that number. Also, considering they do all of this screening, it is very low quality options. Unable to block. Keep getting same people liking profile after blocking several times. Horrible algorithms. Trying to figure out how to cancel ASAP. Beware using this app. Waste of time and investment.

It's ok, but needs some updates. When I subscribe to a platform, I only like to see men that match my preferences. I don't want anyone messaging me or matching me that don't at least fit. I have to close the app and reopen to see matches. I like the setup, but once use starts, it needs to be driven based on filters. This helps get the best experience for what a paid subscriber 8s paying for. As it stands right now...it's not worth it, and I would like a refund.

After using the free service for a few months, I paid for 1 month subscription. Before purchasing, I saw "see who has liked you". It showed over 90 people. Once I paid the subscription, reviewed the Likes, the same people kept popping back up after I swiped "to the left" - as if it was being done automatically. Prior to purchasing the subscription, I had many options to choose from, daily. After the purchase, no more options came through. I was better off not purchasing the subscription.
