Glitchiest app I've ever installed! As far as I know, without the app the mug doesn't work! At first it paired after several attempts, and then it wasn't reliable. It would display the beverage was ready when it wasn't even luke warm. Repeatedly, even after uninstalling, resetting, etc. Within three days, the Bluetooth wouldn't even pair! Grrrrr! I returned the Ember mug.

For a product that can only be controlled through the app, the app is very unreliable. It is a hassle to get it to connect, and you frequently have to unpair and re-pair it For me, this would be enough to not recommend the Ember. Return it if there's still time and get a Nextmug instead. It allows you to set the temperature without an app. I got a set for my parents and in-laws over the holidays and they love them.

The mug is very nice, keeps the temp well and looks good on my desk. The app is a nightmare. I get one, maybe two uses and then it can no longer find my mug via Bluetooth. The only fix is to remove the mug, reset and re-pair and go through setup again. It's beyond frustrating. I was hoping there was a firmware update but I can't find anywhere to update the firmware. This would be a great product if they could get the software right but for right now, it's just an overpriced mug.
