Glitchiest app I've ever installed! As far as I know, without the app the mug doesn't work! At first it paired after several attempts, and then it wasn't reliable. It would display the beverage was ready when it wasn't even luke warm. Repeatedly, even after uninstalling, resetting, etc. Within three days, the Bluetooth wouldn't even pair! Grrrrr! I returned the Ember mug.

It baffles me that the downfall of a product like this would be a Bluetooth connection. Without removing and re-pairing the device pretty much DAILY, I have no idea how much battery remains, what the temperature is set to and I of course can change any settings either. Based on the rest of the reviews and how long this has been an issue, I have to assume they don't care.

The mug looks and feels fine and does keep my coffee warm. The problem is it will not stay connected to my phone and every time I want to adjust the temperature I have to reconnect it. It becomes a pain and for that reason I suggest buying a mug that has the controls on the coffee mug and is not needing to be downloaded since it only stays connected for a couple days.
