My favourite app for learning kana. This, like other similar apps, will let you practice by answering multiple-choice questions; however, I find that the better way of learning is by using this app's "Stage 4" mode, where you are given a sign to type out in romaji. The free version has 4 "stages" (modes of learning) and the paid version adds 5 onto that. Premium is a small one-time payment, and while the paid version is worth the investment, the free app works well as is.

Exactly what I was looking for in a kana app. Bonus points for not having a subscription, at least not at the time of this review. It's simply a one time fee to unlock additional training methods but you can train just fine without them. Try it out!

Kana Pro has become part of my confidence/competence loop workflow. I study kana on Tofugu, run some flashcards on Anki, test myself with Kana Pro and repeat. Genuinely no more efficient way to learn kana. Give it 2 weeks of solid effort and you'll have it tucked in the folds of your brain. Of course, this is the first phase on the path to understanding Japanese! Don't stop here!

That workflow sounds really solid, great to hear that Kana Pro fits in there as the testing phase! And totally agree, kana is just the beginning. Good luck on the journey ahead! 😊
