Excellent app! It feels designed from the ground up for Japanese. Lessons are cohesive, grammar and vocabulary are explained, and you can choose any combination of full Japanese script (with kanji), hiragana and romaji. Since my original review there have been many updates that improve learning, like proper SRS, tolerance for variance, opportunities to redo minor mistakes and ability to star any word. I will say, there are some odd vocab/kanji choices, but this is minor and easily mitigated.

Unfortunately I am unable to use Lingodeer effectively. It will not record from my Bluetooth headset and so the voice recognition in the app is terrible. I investigated all ways I might be able to force the app to use my headset mic and nothing worked.... Hopefully a setting allowing you to choose the input is added in the future as I understand that both Japanese and Korean work great on this app...

The app provides a flexible and progressive learning tool in language learning. After leaning Japane for nearly six months, I can see some real progress that I have made. I found the knowledge cards, listening along, quick quiz are all very useful. I hope I could have access to some tutorial at the beginning which could help a lot. With the emergence of many AI assisted language learning tools, i hope Lingodeer will soon make progress to enable his students to practice speaking to an AI teacher.
