App permissions:

Sky Map has no required permissions. Each permission below is optional — you may refuse any of them and still use the app. Nothing is requested at startup; each is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it, and each can be withdrawn separately in your device settings.
⭐ Location (optional) — used to draw the sky for where you are. Refuse it and you can enter a place name or coordinates by hand instead. Your location never leaves your device.
⭐ Camera (optional) — used only by through-camera mode, which overlays the sky on the live camera view. Refuse it and every other mode works as normal. The image is never recorded or transmitted.
⭐ Notifications (optional) — used only to tell you about meteor-shower peaks and tonight's sky, if you ask for them. They stay off until you turn them on.

Question: why are some constellations... different? Aquila is half of the bird, and the outline is not as it's been drawn for a long time. Very etrange. I also wish I could regenerate the on-load pop-up notifications. accidentally clicked past one about previewing an eclipse and now I'm sad. 2026-08-12 huge celestial event night incl. lunar eclipse! /// Otherwise-great app, love it and it's damn accurate. I've taken very high res photos looking for specific stars and things are exactly in place.

Very effective and useful views of the celestial bodies. Especialy like the transparent earth views allowing viewing of sky below the horizons. I'd give the app a rare five stars if could make the fonts on the map larger for my aging eyes. Thanks for your reply. I found the setting...great! Heres the extra star (hah hah, not enough stars in the universe? :-) )

Been using this app for probably 10 years at this point, both for stargazing and for amateur astronomy, it is amazing! It's sky map, you get the map of the sky without any bs (which cannot be said about other apps of similar nature on this platform). This is simply the best choice imo. Really enjoy the time travel function and it's crazy that it's still getting relevant updates which make it even more fun to use, e.g. clicking on an object to get its description. Thanks to the amazing dev team!
