ONLY FIRST LESSON IS FREE. Affordable annual fee. It's important for others to know that too so I had to say that one first. I did enjoy the first lesson however. Clean layout, clear audio. Interesting way of introducing new word in one sentence and later mixing it with other sentences. My suggestion is that (for learning Mandarin) to integrate more handwriting exercises, either optionally or in all of the exercises since some pronunciation are the same but spelt differently.

I love lingodeer. It has much better grammar explanation than duolingo or any other app. And i like you can buy it forever, not a subscription. I love recording and comparing my pronunciation with the native speaker. And while i haven't gotten to all the advanced stuff i want to test myself on yet, it seems to have the testing of conjugations that i was seeking! I wanted something that presented all the options of a conjugation and asks you to pick the correct one. Very happy with lingodeer.

This review is for "Deer Plus" but I wasn't able to find it so I'm writing it here since this appears to be the same developer. The app would net another star (at the very least) if the its UI didn't sit under the phone's universal nav bar located at the base/bottom of the screen. This poor design makes it impossible to select buttons located at the bottom of the screen. Btw, if there's a setting to bring the app to the front or minimize the nav bar, I can't find it.
