Ratings and reviews

I've been pretty happy with Plex overall over the years (lifetime subscription). I'm very disappointed in the new update/layout of Plex done in 2025. I really dislike that I now have to have an additional two separate apps for photos and music now, so three Plex apps total. No way to add movies to a playlist. Definitely a big step backwards in my opinion.

for playing music from my server at home, this app is so unsatisfying that i'll switch back to subsonic again. the app does not remember your play cue if you fully close the it. the play cue only shows 20 songs ahead. it does not remember song position. responding to my bluetooth headphones controls is... hit and miss (and always miss after reconnecting the headphones). so yeah, it all _looks_ great, but i prefer an app that focuses on function rather than form (like dsub for subsonic). so sad...

I love Plex, and the accompanying app. But there is one big annoyance, that's been here for years (according to Google). The "now playing" notification doesn't go away when nothing is playing anymore and there is no way to close it manually. Really frustrating!! I don't want to disable the notifications because they're very useful and add a lot to the usability, but I'm close to being forced to. I don't want to keep restarting my phone just because of it.
