Ratings and reviews

I've been pretty happy with Plex overall over the years (lifetime subscription). I'm very disappointed in the new update/layout of Plex done in 2025. I really dislike that I now have to have an additional two separate apps for photos and music now, so three Plex apps total. No way to add movies to a playlist. Definitely a big step backwards in my opinion.

While the material offered is dated (it's not an app with the latest shows), what irritated me the most was the ads. Not one once in a while, but 2 or 3 bundled together, usually with some military man talking about COVID-19 in the lead, followed by others, not commercials but boring as hell. If it was the only movie app out there I might decide to pay the 59US$ per month to get rid of them. As it is, it's not worth it.

Put your movies and TV series on a cheap Linux box in the basement, jack a Chromecast into your TV and download this app and you're good to go! You can even stream to your phone or tablet, and with a paid account you can sync for offline viewing! Some minor improvements could increase the viewing pleasure (ie autosync this + next episode etc), but it is already worth five stars.
