In contrast, Western astrology is based on the tropical zodiac, which is tied to the seasons and begins at the spring equinox (around March 21), regardless of the stars’ real-time positions.

As a result, in Vedic astrology, the Sun and other planets often fall into different zodiac signs than in the Western system. For example, someone considered a Leo in Western astrology may actually be a Cancer in Vedic astrology.
