Battle of the Bulge is a turn based strategy game set on the Western Front during the Second World War. From by Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011. Latest update: October 2025.
The historical battle took place in December 1944 in the Ardennes, Belgium, where American forces took on a large German offensive. It was the largest land battle of WWII in which the United States directly participated.
In the game, you are in control of the US armed forces and command American infantry, airborne, and armored divisions. Your first task is to survive the initial German onslaught, known as the Ardennes Offensive, while keeping your divisions in fighting order. After regrouping, you must contain the German attack and prevent the enemy from reaching Brussels, as this would allow them a route to the strategic port city of Antwerp. Once you have stopped the enemy offensive, push back the German units and encircled as many as possible by cutting them off as they advance.
The game is over if:
+ Germans reach over 150 Victory Points, or
+ Germans control less than 10 Victory Points.
"This is undoubtedly the greatest American battle of the the Second World War and will, I believe, be regarded as an ever-famous American victory."
-- Winston Churchill, addressing the House of Commons after the Battle of the Bulge

The Allied intelligence had many indications of the incoming German attack, but all these were not amalgamated into a singular warning. This info included: establishment of the new 6th Panzer Army in the build-up area, consolidation of all the nearby armor divisions under one signal group, the greatest urgency daily aerial recon of the target area by new Arado Ar 234 jets, massive increase in railway traffic in the build-up area and acquisition of 1,000 trucks from the Italian front, fourfold increase of Luftwaffe fighter forces in the West, intercepted Japanese diplomatic signals from Berlin to Tokyo mentioning the coming offensive, etc.
"The present situation is to be regarded as one of opportunity for us and not of disaster.... There will only be cheerful faces at this conference table."
— Dwight D. Eisenhower to his top commanders during a crisis at the start of the Battle of the Bulge
