About this game

Invasion of France 1940 is a turn based strategy game set on the Western Front during the Second World War. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011

You are in command of the German WWII armed forces (tanks, infantry, and air force units), and the object of the campaign is to concentrate your mobile forces enough (blitzkrieg) to push through the center of the map to first seize three key port cities (Calais, Boulogne, and Dunkirk) to cut off the British forces rushing into Belgium to meet the expected German main attack there. After controlling the three port cities, the second phase requires turning south with your exhausted divisions to capture Paris as quickly as possible to finish the campaign.

While Erich von Manstein was formulating new plans for the invasion of France, Heinz Guderian was lodged nearby. Manstein was considering a move north from Sedan, directly in the rear of the main Allied mobile forces in Belgium. When Guderian was invited to contribute to the plan, he proposed that most of the Panzerwaffe should be concentrated at Sedan... Even when adapted to more conventional methods by the German HQ, the new invasion plan provoked a storm of protest from the majority of German generals. They thought it utterly irresponsible to create a concentration of forces in a position impossible to adequately resupply, along routes that could be cut easily by the French. If the Allies did not react as expected, the German offensive could end in catastrophe. Their objections were ignored and Franz Halder argued that, as Germany's strategic position seemed hopeless anyway, even the slightest chance of decisive victory should be grasped.

FEATURES:

+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup as much as possible within still being fun and challenging.

+ Long-lasting: Thanks to a ton of in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.

+ Good AI: Instead of simply attacking on direct line towards their target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units and supporting their own supporting units.

+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.

+ Inexpensive: The German invasion of France - a WWII campaign called Fall Gelb (Case Yellow) - for the price of a coffee!

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

Joni Nuutinen has offered highly rated Android-only strategy games since 2011. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming elements TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. Thanks to the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any indie developer could dream of. if you have advice on how to improve this series please use email, this way we can have a back and forth conversion without all the limits of the store's comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not very sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if somebody has posted a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will answer to it as soon as I'm online. Thanks for understanding!

I come back to this game every once in a while and it seems to get better and better every time. It's an addictive game, and has some very nice features. I'd like to see the AI give me a little more of a challenge though. I've not really felt like I was on the back-foot at any point. I'll try Hard Mode next and hope for more of a challenge. Very addictive game. Recommended.

Another great one in the Conflict series. The set-up feature allows you to place your forces where you want before turn one. This allows a multitude replays, trying different methods of attack each time. If you like the satisfaction of going for a high encircle score, this one is for you!
