Of all programming languages, Java, developed by James Gosling, is arguably one of the most well-known today. The virtual machine of the Java runtime environment makes programs platform-independent. This, combined with the fact that Java is object-oriented and therefore human-readable, has led to Java's widespread use. Beginners to programming, in particular, will find Java indispensable. The Java platform provides a comprehensive class hierarchy that supports the creation of network, graphics, and database applications, regardless of the operating system.
This course is aimed at ambitious Java beginners. Prior knowledge of any other programming language will facilitate the introduction, but is not mandatory.
The goal of this introductory course is to develop a solid understanding of the architecture of Java applications. Using numerous program examples and instructions, ambitious Java beginners with little prior knowledge will be able to write small programs themselves and further deepen their knowledge independently.
The written exam can be taken online or at a FernUniversität Hagen campus location of your choice. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a university certificate. Students can also have earned ECTS credits certified for a Certificate of Basic Studies.
Further information is available on the FernUniversität Hagen website under CeW (Center for Electronic Continuing Education).
