About this game

Tales of Partia, is a game based on the world of Partia, where I wanted to mix its SRPG system with more of Choose Your Own Adventure-like, smaller, more episodic adventures of new and old heroes and heroines. This is its first (and hopefully not the last) offering, and I have combined the first two episodes, that is, I originally intended each episode to be its own stand alone game, but then thought the continuation would make a better arc for the difficulty of the game based on how players manage their play.

It has been slightly over 5 years since I was able to complete the Partia trilogy. It was an all consuming effort that took more than ten years, and frankly, caused PTSD (a failed marriage and financial troubles may contribute to that lol) about starting a solo game project. But kind people and their encouragements about how they enjoyed Partia 3 gave me some courage and motivation, and I started working on Tales of Partia about four years ago, a lot of times failing to make much progress although I find the story and characters, which are roughly based on a TRPG game that Mike Schultz ran and I, along with Mark and Eric participated, quite suitable for a decent video game experience. Anyways, so I guess sometimes you get to your destination not by running, but walks and crawls, as long as you don't give up.

So here is a game, that is aptly finished for my 45th birthday, to some of you, my friends, who may enjoy.

Thank you.

Hi Chris! At the end of the game, thanks to my game design choice of not having an intermission, and having only one save state, I got into the problem of how to gracefully mark it, when a player restart the game. In the end I opted to loop back to the beginning: saving the fact that you chose and to get the dragon egg, if I can continue to TOP 2!

The wait is over. I waited five years for another Partia game to come out & it's finally here! I just started playing but I like the new twist, the direction the game is going. Thanks again for sticking with it & giving us these great games to play.

Hi Sharpnack! TBH I didn't set out to make another SRPG with TOP, but yes I think it was more fun this way as well. I've been also writing up the script for TOP 2, but it's been real slow progress lol. But let's see if I can improve on this CYOA engine too!

Really glad to see a new game in the Partia series! Hope it can find an audience, having a mobile fire emblem-type of game that's not gacha is much appreciated

Ahhh thank you very much Sean! I really wanted to tell a smaller story that is more casual and more multi-genre so hopefully I didn't disappoint you much. Anyways I hope I get to finish the next story of this game where I can bring back my personal favorite character Pell!
