– Simple, Accessible Controls
The control system has been streamlined to work perfectly with modern touch interfaces.
The position of the directional pad can be adjusted freely, enabling players to switch between one-handed and two-handed play with a tap of the screen.
The combat system has also been reworked, allowing for one-tap battles as well as more complex play.

– The Tension System
During battle, you can select 'Psyche Up' to give your next attack some extra oomph!
The more you psyche a character up, the higher their tension will rise, until they finally reach an insane state known as super-high tension!

This system allows you to perfectly tailor your team to your liking.

– Monster Teams

it's not the greatest due to the fact we no longer have the voices and there are places where things get buggy . I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 due to the alchemy pot . In the original you can't get the best alchemy pot til after the end of the game but in this version you start off with the best alchemy pot . Things are created right away instead of waiting around til they're done like the original on the PlayStation .

While lacking the orchestral music and voice acting of the PS2 release, Dragon Quest VIII is an amazing game in whatever form you can play it. This port looks great and has quality-of-life upgrades over the original--including automatic maps, quick- and auto-saves, and an instant alchemy pot--which arguably make it more fun than the PS2 version. Not a bad way to play at all if you don't have a Nintendo 3DS. The framerate does lag at times on Android, but I didn't notice it much. Recommend!

It's 2023. I need the devs to add the ability to select a framerate higher than 15. It's such a shame because this game is so good on its home console, and I was really excited to play it on mobile. For the price being asked, you'd think that they would continue to support it, but its been left practically untouched since launch, save for a few minor bugfixes. Either update the game to take advantage of modern hardware, or admit that you abandoned it and lower the price, Square Enix.
