No other station captures the Austin Music Experience like KUTX 98.9 FM. What you'll hear is a hand-curated, alternative music mix with a local twist. Our hosts, aka DJ's, have more than 300 years on the radio combined--most of that in Austin. The music staff collaborates on picking the best songs, albums and artists from the great pool of talent that makes Austin the "Live Music Capital of the World," as well as from musicians beyond our backyard. You'll be sure to discover new favorites and enjoy familiar tunes with us.

This version of our app focuses on two things--a high-quality stream and the playlist. We've thrown a couple other things in there too, but this is what our listeners have asked for. We're providing an all digital, efficient stream using the AAC+ codec. It sounds great on all platforms, devices, radios and even over cellular. Tap in some headphones and have a listen.

Ratings and reviews

The music selection is great, but not so much the functionality. Whenever the playback is paused or stopped for any reason, the music resumes where it left off for a couple of seconds, plays the station ID, then resumes at the live playback. This makes for a very disjointed experience, especially when my connection is spotty. The music also keeps playing even after I close the app, which is strange. I hope these issues get fixed soon.

The reception is fine. However, it's supposed to show the recent playlist & the song currently playing. Those screens don't show any info. about the artist name or song. I'm wondering if it's that way for certain programs.
