About this app

In 2003 the Free Church of Scotland Psalmody and Praise Committee produced Sing Psalms, which runs in a similar format to the Scottish Psalter with updated vocabulary and grammar making it easier to understand.

Sing Psalms is a metrical translation of the Psalms rather than a paraphrase, in that every effort has been made to set out in verse what is to be found in the original text.

At times compression of expression and also expansion have to be employed to adjust to the metrical format of the English version; this has been done in such a way as to steer a middle course between over-expansion of Scripture and undue omission.

The singing of the Psalms has always been part of the worship of the Christian Church.

At the Reformation the use of metrical psalms became common, and Sing Psalms seeks to foster the practice of the singing of metrical Psalms.

Versions of the psalms found in Sing Psalms may be reproduced in any form without express permission of the Psalmody and Praise Committee provided the quotations occur in non-saleable media and provided no more than six psalms are quoted at any time.

Appropriate acknowledgement would be appreciated.

As I an currently going through the Psalms, I am also singing them, and learning new tunes. This is the song book of my church. It would be good if you had a tune library with song titles to help me pick another tube. Also, it seems that you are putting tunes of incorrect metre with some songs. Psalm 128 is today's example. This did not happen on my iPhone but I'd now occurring on my android. Perhaps you need to go check it.

amazing app...can learn to sing new psalms anywhere. The midi player that teaches the tunes is fully adjustable (you can change the pitch and tempo!!!). Just swipe up on the midi player at the bottom of the screen. =)

Excellent app for reading Psalms. Completely ad-free, and keeps track of the last psalm that you read.
