FarrierDesk is a client and hoof record for the working farrier. It runs on
the phone in your pocket, with no signal needed, in the barn.
TODAY'S ROUND
Open the app and see the barns due today, in the round order you set yourself. Each
horse shows its last shoe size and nail count on all four feet without a tap,
with a marker on any foot that had clips. Open the horse for the full
specification. Access notes sit under the barn name, so the gate code is on
screen before you get out of the truck.
PER-HOOF RECORD
Record what you fitted foot by foot on a four-quadrant diagram laid out the
way you stand looking at the horse. Copy the last visit forward when it is a
reset, or apply one specification to all four.
Shoe size is a free text field on purpose. Horseshoe sizing is not a single
standard: the same stamped number differs between makers and again by region.
The app suggests what you have typed before rather than making you pick from
somebody else's scale.
REBOOKING
Every horse runs on its own cycle, anywhere from two to sixteen weeks, set
per horse. Finish a visit and the next one is booked from that horse's cycle,
with a reminder on the day. Android battery settings can still hold an alarm
back, so the app carries a screen that shows you what is switching it off. An evening summary the night before tells you how many are on
tomorrow's round.
HOOF PHOTOS
Before and after, per foot, per visit. The photo history shows one hoof in
order over time, so you can show an owner or a vet a change rather than
describe it.
INVOICES
Build an invoice at the truck from the visits you just did. Set your rates
once and each visit is priced automatically; anything without a rate is
flagged for you to price by hand rather than billed at nothing. Share the PDF
before you drive off.
HANDLING NOTES
Which horse kicks, which one will not give you a hind foot, which one needs
the owner holding. Written down where you read it, before you walk up.
OBSERVATIONS
Note what you can see on a foot and track it across visits. These are your
own observations, not diagnoses. Conditions such as laminitis and navicular
are diagnosed by a vet, and FarrierDesk does not attempt to.
BACKUP
One file holds every barn, horse, visit, specification and photo. Move it to
a new phone and restore.
WORKS OFFLINE
Everything is stored on the device. Steel barns and back fields do not have
signal, so nothing here waits on a connection.

Self-employed farriers and horseshoers running their own book across several
barns. If you shoe a handful of horses a week or a few dozen, this is the
record and the invoice in one place.
