Our learning activities are based around Systematic Synthetic Phonics and incorporate the latest evidence-based education approaches. KEY READING AND WRITING SKILLS
• Teaching and learning of letter-sound correspondence with a range of mini-lessons and games. Your child will learn about single sounds and beginning diagraphs.
• Interactive letter and word writing activities. Your child will learn to correctly form letters and write simple words.
• Explicit Teaching and learning of blending and segmenting skills, incorporating visual and oral modelling. Your child will learn to read and spell CVC, CVCC and CCVC words.
• Explicit mini lessons and games that teach ‘sight words’ (words with irregular spelling).
• Sentence construction activities that support your child to build and read full sentences.

EVIDENCE-BASED TEACHING AND LEARNING IN ROBOT READING
• Mini-lessons in Robot Reading use Explicit Teaching, which means new knowledge and skills are explained and demonstrated clearly in an age-appropriate way.
• Learning activities provide frequent oral and visual models. This is a very effective evidence-based approach that is used consistently in high-performing classrooms. Worked examples are consistently being given to your child so they know exactly what they need to do and how to do it.
• Robot Reading provides immediate and effective feedback to your child, providing positive reinforcement when they are correct and extra support to try again if they are incorrect.
• The sequence of lessons incorporates Spaced Retrieval Practice, which is used by expert educators due to its basis in cognitive science research.
