Quit Your Day Job is a personal finance board game about quitting your job. You start with a paycheck and a stack of monthly bills. Buy rental houses, small businesses, land and stocks until your passive income beats your expenses, and you are free.
HOW IT PLAYS
• Get dealt a career: custodian, line cook, teacher, nurse, engineer, airline pilot, physician and more, each with its own salary, bills and debt.
• Roll and land on deals: condos, apartment buildings, food trailers, car washes, land and stocks.
• Every deal shows the price, the money you put in, the debt and your yearly return on that money. Buy it or pass.
• Every choice gets a verdict, from slow money to great buy, and shows exactly where it lands on your financial statement.
• Watch your income statement and balance sheet change as you play: assets, liabilities, cash flow and net worth.
• Handle real life: layoffs, lawsuits, surprise bills, new babies and market swings.
• If a player goes broke, the game shows exactly why.
YOUR FREEDOM NUMBER
Your Freedom Number is your total monthly expenses. When the money your assets pay you each month beats it, you walk out of the grind.
ROUND TWO: LIFE ON THE OUTSIDE
Once you escape, the game changes. Bigger deals, bigger risks, luxury temptations, and a net worth goal you pick: $2 million, $5 million or $10 million.
