About this app

Local Notes is a private, offline notes app with Markdown, folders, tags, and instant full-text search. No accounts. No sync. No tracking. Your notes live on your device, and only there.

Built for people who just want to write things down without handing their thoughts to a cloud service. Open the app, start typing, and your note is autosaved to a local SQLite database on your phone. No login screen. No "verify your email" emails. No background uploads.

What you can do
• Write in Markdown with a complete formatting toolbar: bold, italic, headings, lists, todo lists, quotes, links, inline code.
• See a live preview side-by-side on tablet and desktop, or toggle it on phones.
• Autosave kicks in 0.8 seconds after you stop typing, so you never lose a word.
• Organise with folders, tags, favorites, and an archive.
• Find anything instantly with full-text search powered by SQLite FTS5.
• Export your notes in four formats: JSON (full fidelity), Markdown bundle, Plain Text bundle, or PDF.
• Import from JSON, Markdown, or Plain Text with three conflict strategies (Skip, Overwrite, Duplicate).
• Switch between Light, Dark, and System themes.
• Adjust text size for comfortable reading.
• Clear all data with a typed-confirmation safety net.

Privacy you can verify
Most "private" apps still phone home for analytics or crash reports. Local Notes does not. You can verify it yourself.
• No INTERNET permission requested in the Android manifest.
• No advertising ID (GAID): explicitly removed from the manifest.
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporters, or third-party SDKs.
• Cleartext traffic blocked at the OS level.
• Auto Backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled, so your notes cannot leak through Google's automatic copy mechanisms.
• Open source: read every line of code on GitHub.

What it is not
• Not a sync service. There is no server.
• Not a journaling app with mood graphs. It is a notes app.
• Not a wiki or knowledge graph. It is a notes app.

Portability you own
