Ratings and reviews

This app is lukewarm. The verse of the day pops-up, then a secular commercial. Three things I would like to see improved would be: First, a few colors for highlighting [Example: Green, yellow, and blue. Second, more Bible translations. I thank you for making the Bible easier to access when I am on the go. I would rate this app a 5 but until I see these improvements, I will not change.

After uninstalling the app more than a year ago due to popovers and ads, I thought I'd come back and see if anything changed. Apparently not. I've used the online version since at least the turn of the century. There too has obnoxious popovers but once closed, they stay that way. The You Version app is simple and the way Bible Gateway used to be. Due to the many current reviews for the same reasons that frustrated me, I won't be reinstalling.

Ads and subscription plans. I would happily pay a 1 time fee to get ad free, however I will not pay $5/month, that rate is obsurd. However, the ads are intrusive enough that it's unbearable to use without ads. I understand that people have to get paid, but $5/month is a bit excessive just to get a Bible tool without ads. This is my favorite Bible website also, but for an app there are better options.
