MessagEase is a VERY different keyboard, unlike any keyboard you’ve seen or experienced before. It's NOT a QWERTY keyboard! So If you are looking for yet another QWERTY keyboard with bells and whistles, MessagEase is not what you are looking for!

But if you are open to new ideas and up for experiencing a completely new way of writing -- with a keyboard designed for ease, speed and accuracy -- you will be pleasantly, even shockingly, surprised at how well, how precise, how easy, and how fast you can text with MessagEase. Our current champion’s speed is 82 WPM! That's 82 Words Per Minute (most people don't type nearly that fast with ten fingers!)

MessagEase essentially has 9 large keys with an ingenious letter assignment that is designed to maximize your speed and to ease your writing. It may take you a few minutes to learn this new way of writing. But you'll save hours by texting and writing faster.

MessagEase is based on many years of scientific research; it uses letter frequency and di-gram data to optimize the position of letters and characters on a novel keyboard with fewer, larger buttons. (That’s why the letter positions are NON-QWERTY!)

This novel letter position is often very shocking--even intimidating--at first. But persevere and soon you'll find it intuitive and very practical.

MessagEase keyboard also includes word prediction. To keep the package light, the word lists required for word prediction is provided in separate modules that you download optionally. Please long press on Hand and then go to Settings > Languages & Keyboards > Word Prediction for how to set it up.

Please also note that you can change the keyboard size by dragging up/down on the Hand button. You can also reshape and recolor the keyboard in various ways. See Settings for details. You can also change the font used for the keyboard; you can even re-assign new characters or hide and remove some of the characters: yes, it is customizable like no other keyboard you've ever seen.

Ratings and reviews

As many have pointed out, the subscription based model is asinine. Subscriptions are for services like Netflix, where the service (content) is constantly changing. I've seen one (maybe two) updates from MessagEase in the last many years of me using it. I would have happily paid a $10, maybe even $20, one-time payment for MessagEase since I adore it. But the feature is largely static and NOT fit for a subscription payment model. I will be moving on until a one-time payment option is offered.

I've loved this keyboard for ten years. it's the first app I've installed on my last five phones. but if the subscription popups don't get fixed, I'm out! I was willing to pay for something I'd been enjoying for free for so long -- in my mind, y'all earned it! but now it makes my whole phone feel annoying to use, which takes this from 5 stars to 2. fixing that and adding a full complement of searchable emoji would have me singing your praises to all my friends, telling them to pay the fee.

This is fingers down the best input method on phones. Been using it for years. As such, it deserves 5 stars. I don't want to see it go the way of 8pen (and it's better than 8pen). However, the subscription based model *must* go. I'll gladly pay an upfront cost for it. The keyboard is well worth it. I understand that the company is likely not getting enough income to pay the employee at Exideas. But, subscriptions are not the solution.
