About this app

People across the world have been spotting an amazing line of bright moving lights in their night sky. These are Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX, and they look like a "train" of moving lights since 60 satellites are launched together at a time.

Find out when you can see this phenomenon at your location!

This app is the official mobile version of the findstarlink.com website, which has been successfully serving Starlink predictions to people since May 2019 (when Starlink first launched). The findstarlink.com website has been mentioned on several press outlets like Yahoo! News, WIRED.it, and Florida Today, and receives daily user confirmations of successful Starlink sightings. This app additionally lets you set reminders, and works offline.

Designed to be simple and easy to use. First, please select your nearest city (or coordinates), and click on 'Find Visible Times'. The app will list the times when you can see Starlink. You can also click 'Remind me' next to any timing, to get a reminder 30 minutes before Starlink will be visible at your location. A 'Live Map' lets you track where Starlink is currently in the world.

Please feel free to email me at dev@cmdr2.org if you have any questions or problems, and I can try to help.

I'm pleasantly happy with this rather basic app. Really looking forward to seeing how the app develops in future versions. A bit niggling being in NZ as we are right where the map sort of breaks. Some further explanations or diagrams on how to interpret the angles that are given in your results would be helpful for beginners. This is still the app I will use for Starlink over other apps with too many other features. Good luck & clear skies to all ;)

So, after a few attempts I finally saw one. By one, I mean, one measly satellite, not a train of them like all these apps make it seem. It's very tiny and elusive, like trying to spot Mercury and it zips by fast. If it's not a completely dark and clear night, you'll easily miss it. Even with perfect conditions, it's difficult to spot. Nothing at all like the videos you see.

Hi Chris, sorry to hear that. Could you please let me know which time and approx location (nearest city) you tried to check? That'll help improve the accuracy by checking what happened. I'm listening at dev@cmdr2.org, thanks

Sorry, to give one star but trying to view 10 minutes either side of the predictions have yielded nothing in both Portugal on the coast of the North Atlantic and for my family who live in the middle of nowhere and can see plenty of satellites. Clear nights, stars in the sky, yet the scheduled times seem to be wrong. App looks lovely but doesn't seem to be on point. Map also doesn't seem to tie in with sighting times either. Despite there being only one ISS, its trackers always work. I give up.

Hi Matthew, I'm very sorry about that. Looking at Portugal's timings, I'm assuming you tried to see Starlink-2? It looks like Starlink-2 has spread out quite a bit, and is not very visible now. Unlike ISS which stays stable, Starlink is visible only for a short period of time, and often changes orbit. I've removed Starlink-2 from the list, thanks!
