Getting your ticket
E-tickets may look like a humble barcode but when they’re stored in your app’s Booking section, they become the quick and easy way to travel, so no need to interact with anyone or anything when in the train station or onboard a train.

Picking up tickets from a ticket machine
If you plan to pick up your tickets from a ticket machine, you'll need your reference numbers which are stored in the bookings section to view at any time.

Using your Smartcard
Request a new Smartcard through the app when making your next ticket purchase. We will then send you your Smartcard in the post. You may then load the ticket onto your Smartcard at the gate.

the ticket time selection doesn't work, the mandatory address doesn't work, it doesn't know it's own schedule, the live updates are not live and nor does it update. it will sell you a ticket on a cancelled train. Just designed to take money in the most difficult way possible, like the rest of the operation.

The app is now completely broken It is refusing to let me buy a ticket because I'm "not authorised". When I tried logging in/out again, it no longer recognises my username and password. This is despite me being able to login to their website fine. I even tried resetting my password with no luck. When I tried to report the problems in app, there system was down. So I can't even file a support request to try and get it fixed. Overall, very poor experience.

Despite loading 4 smartcards and a credit card on to the app it only offered collect from station option. It offered me my credit card to pay, then told me it was already registered!?! I discovered that going into settings and telling the app again that my preferred method was smartcard and the next ticket could be loaded. Very frustrating, only time will tell if it does the same again, and I go back to The Trainline.
