About Luther’s Small Catechism

Though the catechism was written by Martin Luther in 1529, its question and answer format provides Christians with a timeless and easy-to-use guidebook that is applicable to all the various callings we have in life.

The Small Catechism explores the Six Chief Parts of Christian Doctrine: the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, Confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar. It also includes daily prayers, a table of duties for Christians, and a guide for Christians to use as they prepare to receive Holy Communion.

Ratings and reviews

The free version is good, in that you get the whole LCMS translation of the Small Catechism right there on your phone, for free. If you pay for the explanation stuff, you get that, too... sometimes. When I upgraded my phone, I couldn't access the explanation. It used to work on my old phone, but no combination of things CPH told me to do worked. The app acts as if restoring works, but it won't display. They said to tell Google. I have yet to find a way to even do that. Just get the book.

Critical bug report: UI 8.0 breaks text scrolling - one page of text displays, but fades out at the bottom of the page, no scrolling. note - checked both app and os, no updates found, not on beta. text still fades after one page, not scrolling in explanations or larger verses.

I recently had a problem when I accidentally uninstalled it and when I re-installed, the explanation wasn't there. I contacted support who were very helpful in restoring the explanation... thanks Jordan! Very impressed with app and the prompt support, would definitely recommend.
