Beginner Chinese learners can start from ni hao and work their way up through our beginner courses that will take them through HSK 1 and HSK 2. Start off with pinyin and hide it when youā€™re ready to learn traditional or simplified characters.

Intermediate Chinese learners (HSK 3 and HSK 4) can begin reading more elaborate stories while learning to use Mandarin Chinese grammar in context. Hide pinyin or use difficult words only to show pinyin for all words above your level.

Advanced Chinese learners (HSK 5 and HSK 6) will enjoy our short stories adapted from Chinese folktales and our collections on the Tang Dynasty, Han Dynasty, and more! Our app also covers topics like everyday life in China, funny stories, business Mandarin, latest trends in China, and Chinese history.

Read Chinese at your Level:
Whether itā€™s our beginner Chinese courses about life in China, advanced Chinese stories about Chinese history, or snippets of daily conversation, you can find material from HSK 1-6 to practice reading Chinese! When you stumble on a word you can check our Chinese dictionary with translations or jump to Pleco.

Save Time:
The Du Chinese app offers a built-in dictionary, pinyin, translations, and professional audio. Take control of your learning experience with our integrations with popular apps like Pleco, Skritter, and Hack Chinese.

Improve Your Tones:
Mastering tones can be very difficult, especially when youā€™re trying to mimic a robot! Thatā€™s why we have professional recordings by native speakers for every lesson. So when you say hello in Mandarin, people will understand your 你儽.

Expand Your Vocabulary:
By learning Mandarin Chinese as you read, youā€™ll pick up on the most useful words naturally. As you read, save new words and practice them later to build your vocabulary. Our interactive flashcards make it easy or sync them with Skritter or Hack Chinese.

This app is SOOO helpful. I grew up with Chinese at home, and had completely given up on learning how to read. I started using this app this year and could not remember how to read anything. After reading just a few minutes a day, and I have reached upper intermediate level. The app is very well made (lots of useful features), with a lot of stories that also teach you about Chinese culture!

Tons of stuff for beginners. They have series that are good for going from beginner to intermediate but they abruptly stop right as your hooked in the story. Gets you to HSK 2 and some HSK 3. But after that you're left reading boring books or long form articles. More daily conversation like "Ben's life in China" would go a long way to making this app great and extremely useful for life and conversation in Chinese.

The passages all have hand-made translations with synced audio to each word. The knockout feature is that you can highlight a word, and the flashcard will be created with the sentence as context--Incredible! The only problem for me is the walled garden with regards to flashcards. They support export to, but not import from Anki, and no automatic syncing. It's too much effort/risk for me to migrate to a proprietary app, especially when there is no way to add cards outside of their passages.

Thank you for your feedback! Du Chinese offers automatic syncing exporting of Flashcards to Skritter and Hack Chinese if that helps? You can set it up from here: https://duchinese.net/accounts/ We would love to hear more about what kind of syncing you would like to see, so please reach out to us at info@duchinese.net if you have the time.
