Pretty great format; basics aren't very useful Nice graphics for learning. Interface is nice. Has a composition writing test that might help understand where parts of characters are derived (with generous hints). Can turn off Chinese characters and use only Pinyin. Even has typing in Pinyin with multiple way to specify tones! Haven't figured out how to use a silent mode (for learning when you can't hear the phone), but these questions aren't common. The vocabulary aren't initially useful for conversation (man, women, children).
This is the best android app I've seen yet for learning Chinese. I have noticed a few bugs on the speaking exercises. But despite this it has very good presentation, includes character reading and writing exercises, and the speaking exercises are still functional enough to be useful and have been separated from the rest of the exercises and made optional. I have tried many other apps for learning Chinese and this one is my favourite.
Chinese skill is the best I love this app there is no other like it. I love languages and thought I'd tackle Chinese next, this app really helps. After a few days I was able to start keeping a journal in very basic Chinese. Now Im a dedicated learner so your dedication level, as with everything, will mainly determine what you take from this app. there nice options of pin yin and mandarin or just mandarin so you can review lesson with only the characters. Love this app! Hate duolingo Chinese. This is better!
Actually works I have tried many times before and never learnt a single word but this app... teaches me it in a way I just learn it, then realise I know four words without noticing I had to try! I will continue with this app because it works even if I don't think I'm trying... 38 years old and finally learning. I think the method the app uses must be a special trick!!
Can't believe I waited this long The amount of times I waited for Duolingo to come out with mandarin, when I could've used this the whole time... this is awesome. It's basically Duolingo with a few other features specific to mandarin - character drawing, typing chinese in tones, etc. I've read that it doesn't have the same community as Duolingo, with people helping you out, but that doesn't really weaken the product much as a Google search could answer any questions. It's convenient and fun, and makes you feel productive.
This app does everything From fluid learning curriculum that is easy to follow, to speech recognition, grammar information, character practice, flash cards, and point based learning for some fun. When I think about how much work most have gone into making this app, it amazes me. It's definitely worth it for any new learners. It even keeps track of what lessons you've done and the content in the lesson so you can do quizzes that include all of that material. There are even advanced lessons after you're done with everything!
