lucky to escape a penalty fine ! Tried to book a journey i have made often using Trainline. So I knew all the details already. Specifically, it's slightly cheaper to restrict Open Return ticket to one train operator only. But this app didn't tell me which train operator I would be using. It didn't tell me my ticket would be restricted to that one train operator only. It didn't offer me an option to pay an extra 5p to allow Any train operator ! Basic failures make this app unusable.

Looked good and appeared to save me money. BUT if booking for more than one traveller, then be sure both qualify for whatever discount card. eg senior card; if not both over 60, a discount will be applied to both travellers! Response to similar feedback in 2023 said "coming soon". 2 years on, I had same issue. Also, no option to reserve a bicycle space. Most operators won't accept bikes without. I was going to sign up, but, for me, these are fundamental flaws.

Not only can you save money on your train travel, but their customer service is terrific. I made an error booking and they sorted it out the same day with an appropriate refund. I feel very comfortable and confident using their services.
