For previous version: I installed apps for all of the Indianapolis news stations. After comparing them for a few days, WTHR outshines the rest. It is by far the easiest app to use, in my opinion. It gives a lot of info in a very simple to use format that includes all the different categories of news. Quick and easy to find what I'm looking for and breaking news texts. What more do you need? UPDATE: New version is not impressive. Too many ads and not as much news. More difficult to navigate.

It is simply atrocious trying to get the video forecast to play on this glorified web-browser. This station has the best forecast models around, but this recent app design is a big failure. For starters it takes forever to navigate to the video forecast, which ends up just being a mirror of the standard website (which works fine on a PC browser by the way). Then trying to play the video is a trip back to the 90s. The video queues forever, then plays 4 seconds, repeat. I make sure I'm on Wi-Fi, set quality to lowest, it doesn't help. I'm done with this one. Please let me know when you've brought in a new app team and I'll gladly check in again.

Update_June 2020 update made me uninstall the app. Finding actual news was difficult and app is hard to navigate. New app focus on ads and clickbait, no thanks. Previous review from 2015-Best local traffic, easy to use and intuitive. Only need one app for news, weather and traffic. Only downside is loose definition for push notifications, not every story deserves a notification, so that's always disabled for me. Letting me choose which notifications to receive would change to 5 stars.
