About this game

Strategic Chess Roguelike. Demo - single IAP unlocks the full game.

The ad-free demo contains 1 (of 3) acts and 22 (of 57 pieces).

The Ouroboros King is a chess roguelike game where players must free the Kingdom of Thessalonia from the Coven combining the strategic depth of chess with the build variety and replayability of roguelikes.

- Build the Ultimate Army: Combine classic and new fairy chess pieces, relics that give them bonuses, and consumable items that grant you temporary advantages to create a formidable army.
- Perfect Your Strategy: You can only move one piece per turn, so you must choose carefully. Make your troops work together to obliterate the enemy army.
- Another Chance: If you're defeated you can go back to action on another timeline, where the path to victory will change: different map, different enemies, different rewards... in true roguelike spirit.

Features:
- Lots of end-game options to dial up the difficulty to insane levels.
-Same-device multiplayer, challenge your friends to chess games with lots of unique pieces.
- Chess-based tactics, easy to learn and hard to master.
- 15-45 minute runs, good for a short break and also longer sessions.
- No gatekeeping, all the content is unlocked from the start. Win or die based on your skills.
- No need to learn any chess openings or study anything.

Game inspirations: Shotgun King: Chess, The Final Checkmate, Pawnbarian, Slay the Spire, Into the Breach, 5D chess with multiverse timetravel.

It's a good game, but when you switch platforms, you need to repurchase it. I wish there was a code for things like that where if you can restore purchases you just need to type in a code that matches the device you want to transfer the full game to (so you don't have to pay again), but there could be an advantage to that where people would cheese it so that the company would make less money. It's hard, but please make a feature like that where it can't be easily cheesed. Have a good day! Bye!😁

Fun game but has some issues. Getting into late infinity mode rounds gets increasingly laggy, the enemy ends up getting more relics than can be displayed on screen making it difficult to plan around at times. If your RNG is good, you can end up with a nearly impossible to counter strategy by end game. Would also benefit from a multiplayer mode.

Fun game! Found it through Northern Lion's stream. If you're used to regular chess, being able to see pins/forks/trades seem to be the most important thing. Beating all 3 witches at 100% difficulty is really hard. But if you can roll a bunch of rooks/catapults/royal guards + a prince or gorgon it's doable. I wish there were incentives to use other pieces though. Maybe achievements for beating a run with a certain piece? Also discrete difficulty levels instead of a slider would feel better.

What's new

Multiple quality-of-life changes based on user feedback, including a bigger chess board, confirmation when abandoning a run, and a fix to the game not recognizing the premium version without an internet connection.
