Complete waste of time in the latest Android versions. Device admin does jack squat, you most likely need Device Owner. You waste time granting permissions in ADB shell all to find out nothing works like you expect it to. Can't give the app Read/Write pernissions. Bravo for what it was years back, but it's time for the dust bin with this app, all thanks to Google. Tasker is not far behind. Becoming more work than it's worth.

device admin is not enough to clear a pin/password on android 8, you need to setup it as device owner.

I've been looking for an app that integrates with tasker and gives me the ability to freeze apps (especially Google Play Services at night), while retaining icons of the disabled app on the home screen(s). Securetask seemed to promise that but Play Services still kept recording under developer options/running services and logging Internet connection attempts under Adhell. I've noted the same behavior for Samsung Health as well. It seems that Securetask's method of freezing isn't water-tight.

There is a BIG difference between device admin, which the description states is needed along with a few simple adb commands & can be easily granted, & device owner, which is also required, not made clear enough in the description, & requires a factory reset (no thanks). I wasted far too much time getting this set up & figuring out how to use it with MacroDroid (can't find instructions ANYWHERE), only to find I can't do what I was trying to do. This requirement needs to be made MUCH clearer.
