Tanpura Droid is the software version of a Tanpura, this sitar-like instrument used in Indian classical music to play a drone sound throughout a musical performance. Includes real sounds. Whether you practice Indian music or just want a meditative background sound for relaxing, we hope you'll enjoy this little free app.

Ratings and reviews

The app was working well until recently. In the last week or 10 days, I have noticed that it stops working or playing in the background if you are not on it. Meaning, if the tanpura is playing and I open a different app, the tanpura then stops playing. I use the tanpura in conjunction with another app for table in order to practice my singing. This is is extremely inconvenient as I now have to use separate phones for each app. Please fix the issue!

As we open the app, video emerge to watch now please try avoiding it, rest everything is fantastic,

Shruthi playing on the first load is a bad idea. We may be practicing or singing in another pitch and when the app is opened, it starts with a completely different pitch. Very annoying to start the app and it's killing the experience. I had to move to other app just because of this. All other aspects are good and appreciate the effort to make this.
