About this app

We’re slackers. The modern-day climate heroes. The kind of people who help save the world by doing the most basic human thing in life - eat stuff.

We’re running the world’s least ambitious, most delicious climate movement: Radical Slacktivism. To fight over-production and solve food waste.

Join Karma's Slacker Movement. It will feed you.*

*with super discounted food that otherwise would go to waste.

***Now with more than 9,000 connected restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and cafes in the UK and Sweden to buy take-away food from. The best part? More places join every week!***

************************

- Food on sale. Is this real life?
Yes, you read it. Discounted price on great food.

- It feeds you
All the meals you can think of. Whether you’re hangry, sad, happy or just want to treat yourself.

- Saving the world one slice at a time.
Fight food waste by simply eating.

***********************

Are you still reading? Guess you want to know more huh. Here’s the drill (it’s as easy as 1-2-3).

- Food is uploaded to Karma
Restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and cafes upload their surplus food at specific times, often between 2 pm and 6 pm.

- Save food with a tap
You buy the food you want directly in the Karma app at a lower price.

- Take (the easy way) out
Show your order to the personnel to get your food as take away.

************************

Together, we're making sustainability effortless.

I love the idea, but if there is a single shop in Oregon that participates, I can't find them. No groceries, meals, or anything! Huge bummer, but very true to form to the US. I lived overseas and used TooGoodToGo a lot and got bags of groceries for like $10 each, but the US is slow to adopt these kinds of apps, and corporate greed/policy makes these sorts of apps hard to use. Keep advertising yourself to shops to get them on board! I would love to make use of this app.

The app is a good concept, but I have two major complaints. The first is that food advertised as available on the home screen is often no longer available once you click through to the restaursnt page to place an order. This seems like a bait-and-switch. The second issue is that a sneaky fee is added on just before you place the order. I didnt even notice the fee until I had placed many orders. Karma charges restaurants 25% of the sale price, so there is no reason to add an (underhanded) fee.

Hi Bjorn! I wasn't aware about the issue with food not being available when clicking through to the next page. I'd love it if you could email us at support@karma.life so that we can investigate this issue further! To cover some of our operating costs, offer a better service and make the app even better, Karma charges a small fee for each purchase.

Whenever I've checked the app, it always says nothing available.. I've searched hard (and further than I'd want to travel), but the best I've found are a few shops, where it says the last sale was over a week ago (which could presumably mean a month or a year back). In contrast, TooGoodToGo always seems to have places offering food daily. UPDATE: months later, I still haven't found anything. Maybe they need to add some kind of alert to tell you when there's something available with 20-30Km 🤷‍♂️
