About this app

NOTE: UnitedHealthcare® offers this wellness program to employers; it may be included with your health plan. Confirm your eligibility by checking with your company’s
HR representative.

It pays to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
Simply put, UnitedHealthcare MotionTM 1) gives you three daily walking goals and 2) rewards you financially for achieving them.

Our walking goals are designed to promote health and wellness. Reaching a high daily step count can be important, but there’s more to maximizing the health benefits of walking: Motion’s “FIT” goals are a prescription to move with Frequency, Intensity, and Tenacity every day.

Did you know that even a 1-hour workout may not be enough to reduce health risk factors if the majority of your day is spent sitting? We lose two hours of life for every hour we sit, Dr. James Levine, a professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic, writes in his book “Get up!” Let Motion incent you to get up frequently for brief walks every day.

Money may be a good incentive.
UnitedHealthcare Motion gives you the opportunity to earn over $1,000 per plan year for out-of-pocket medical expenses by doing more of what you may already do: walk. You can earn for one, two, or all three goals each day. Earnings are deposited quarterly into an HRA or HSA, as applicable.

I upgraded to a new Fitbit, the Charge 6. I did this using credits from my UHC Motion store. I followed the directions to pair a new device and link through the Fitbit App and UHC. I was surprised that the Charge 6 was not an option to select. Both apps do show as paired. However, I'm noticing that my total daily steps in the UHC Motion app doesn't sync correctly, over 800 steps off & no FIT area on device so no notice that goals are met.

Motion does not make apps for newer Fitbits. You have to ALWAYS have your phone with you and checking to see when the next walk is complicated. Or, heaven forbid, you are trying for an I, the Motion app refuses to update with the Fitbit app and you keep walking and walking and walking because you don't know when you have reached 3000 steps. Fitbit may say you walked 3000 steps, but Motion may not record it. You don't have an I until Motion says you do.

The program takes a long time to sync with my vivo watch. Most of the time I have to press the sync on my phone several times for the program to communicate with the watch and my data to be added. Needs work. I would say that it works like a 1980's car. Slow, Old and clunky in performance. Update: UHC motion has gotten worse. The update now has removed the widget from the watch that reminds you how many steps, frequency, and intensity. It doesn't properly sync with my phone.
