The current government is implementing various programs to build digital Bangladesh with the technical assistance of UNDP in providing e-services to various ministries, departments and directorates of the government. This process is going on with the aim of delivering services at the doorsteps of the people. Bangladesh Tea Board under the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and its affiliates have been providing various services to tea plantations for the development of tea industry in Bangladesh. Among them, Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) and Project Development Unit (PDU) have been providing various scientific assistance in solving various technical problems of tea plantations with the aim of increasing the production and quality of tea. To facilitate this service, Bangladesh Tea Board has taken the initiative to facilitate tea information and technology services through a mobile app called 'Duti Pata Ek Kundi'.
As there is no online or offline e-data repository for tea information and technology, tea stakeholders have to come from remote areas to tea board, PDU and BTRI offices to know various information and technical issues of tea plantations and tea production is disrupted at the right time. To solve this problem an innovative concept was initiated to facilitate tea information and technology services using a mobile app called 'Duti Pata a Bud'.
Later, a database of statistical information of all the tea gardens was created and a mobile app called "Two leaves and a bud" was developed and included in the app, and the history of tea, Bangabandhu and tea industry, plains tea industry, tea data cell, tea cultivation methods, Soil management, improved varieties and high yielding clones, nursery management, agronomic aspects, pest and disease management, tea processing, benefits of tea drinking, tea recipes, photo gallery, video gallery, latest news etc. are included in the app with images and videos.
By using the app on smart mobile sets, people from any part of the country can get all the information related to tea online/offline at home. Tea plantation owners, managers, assistant managers, small tea farmers, field workers, laborers and tea information enthusiasts will get solutions to various tea related issues through their smart mobile sets. Tea-affiliated people will sit in the garden and learn about tea cultivation methods, tea pests, disease control techniques and be able to solve problems. After all, time will be saved and the client will not need any money and travel. Desired service will be ensured on time. Using the right information at the right time will increase tea production and contribute to the national economy.
