About this game

Horror in the Darkness is a short exploration and puzzle solving adventure game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, where players explore and investigate, putting together clues and solve puzzles to uncover the secrets of Wentsire Manor. It is a mobile phone adaption of the classic text-based adventure genre, similar to the point-and-click classics. The game combines a bleak environment and an sense of underlying dread with moments of comedy to keep you entertained.

Fresh back from the horrors of World War 2, our protagonist was working as a private investigator. Not hugely successful, but it paid the bills. Mostly. But when the widow of his old friend needed his help nothing could have prepared him for the bizarre and uncanny events that were about to unfold.

Horror in the Darkness Redux is an extended and remastered version of the critically acclaimed original game. Original content has been adapted to use the latest features of the Horror series, such as manual save and an easily accessible map button. Expanded content improves the main plot arc and makes for a more fulfilling experience.

The controls are simple and the game itself is elegant despite the incredible simplicity of the format. One star deducted because the hints weren't as helpful as I needed them to be and the difficulty in knowing what can and can't be interacted with. However it is worth playing and I can't wait to try the other games in the series.

I really enjoyed this choose your own adventure puzzle! There were two places I got stuck, because I pushed instead of pulled. A little more clarity in the descriptions would have helped there. I wish it had been a wee bit longer, too. Aside from those minor quibbles, I loved the mood, the music and the story.

I came in with decent expectations after figuring out this was an earleir entry I went for it first, If youre looking for a decent puzzle based story this is for you although fast travel and excessive hints are behind paywall, the layout is easy to remember and I find the hint every few minutes and save anywhere except life or death situations is really reliable design choice . Though it may be simple txt adventure it gave me a few hours of fun from trying to figure it out on my own, and thr solutions werent remotely strange and the descriptions are solid enough that I was never confused, nor did it have habd holding. I can not wait to see where it goes from here and I am VERY grateful I gave this story a shot.
