It's probably great for connecting to a remote device, but I couldn't figure out how to open a local adb shell to debug the device in my hands.

only two small issues. one you need to know the port number. For example, if you're connecting to fireOS, the default ADB port is 5555. The second issue is the ad that pops up is a little bit difficult to skip.

the best app not because it's free because it still has the important functions of adb shell despite being free
