A brief translation of Sheikh Asim and his student Hafs
The narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim, is the narration or recitation of the Great Book of God by Hafs on his sheikh, Imam Asim bin Abi Al-Nujoud.
Imam Asim:
Asim bin Bahdala Abi al-Nujud al-Kufi, and it was said that his father's name is Abdullah and his nickname is Abu al-Nujud, and the name of Umm Asim is "Bahdala" and his nickname is Abu Bakr. And the chain of transmission of Asim in reading ends with Abdullah bin Masoud and Ali bin Abi Talib, and his chain of transmission comes in height after Ibn Katheer and Ibn Aamer, so there are two men between Asim and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
Asim used to recite Hafs as Ali bin Abi Talib recite it, which he narrated from Abu Abd al-Rahman. Asim died in the year 120 AH.
Imam Hafs:
He is Hafs bin Suleiman bin Al-Mughirah bin Abi Dawud Al-Asadi Al-Kofi Al-Ghadari Al-Bazzaz - after selling clothes, i.e. clothes - and his nickname: Abu Omar, he was born in the year 90. It is known as Hafs. He took the reading casually and learned from Asim, who was his stepson - his wife's son -. Hafs died in the year 180 AH.
