Holberg Dictionary is a historical dictionary covering Ludvig Holberg's works and thus an essential part of the Enlightenment Danish language.
The dictionary contains 35,000 entries and and thus represents almost all the words of Ludvig Holberg's famous comedies and other diverse writings. The dictionary is an invaluable aid to the reading of the author's works. At the same time describes the dictionary of the Danish language in the Enlightenment, when society and world view changed dramatically.
Most words and meanings are illustrated with detailed important information and quotes from Holberg's works.
Holberg Dictionary is part of ordnet.dk and published by the Danish Language and Literature (DSL), which has more than 100 years of experience in publishing dictionaries and behind the largest Danish native language dictionaries. The project is supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.
