About this app

Many web browsers thrill with an extremely fast site rendering, a sleek design and innovative features. But they also gets critic from data protection specialists , for reasons such as creating a unique user ID or the submission of data to external servers. SRWare Iron is a real alternative. The browser is based on the Chromium-source and offers the same features - but without the critical points that the privacy concern.

We could therefore create a browser with which you can now use the innovative features without worrying about your privacy. We want our users to participate in our work and make the browser free to download under the name "SRWare Iron" into the net.

Iron is really good for a simple, private browser. It's smaller than Duck and Firefox, bare bones and really easy to use, but doesn't perform exceptionally in privacy tests: it can't mask IP (so use with VPN) and doesn't block fingerprinting. Better than average, excellent choice for casual users who don't want a big learning curve or unnecessary features.

I want to love this - loyal PC iron user for 10+ years! Definitely not up to par with Chrome, FireFox or Opera. Covers the essentiaks but is missing many important features. No ability to backup or export bookmarks. Need a way to save out bookmarks in case of phone transfer or factory reset? Nope. No Google Sync either. Browser touch interaction breaks often, requiring you to minimize or exit and restart app to get things working right. Id gladly spend money to buy a fully featured version.

NO sync with desktop, at least if there was bookmark sync. Also there is an error for sites that want to install the web app shortcut in launcher instead of the normal launcher shortcut, it shows error when trying to save the web app shortcut, it says something went wrong. Creating normal shortcuts (for other sites) works.
