About this app

Precise Volume is a fully-featured Equalizer and audio control utility. It is filled with helpful features with the goal of allowing you to customize your audio to sound exactly how you like it.

NOTE: Returning users, try turning on Legacy mode. This may get the app working for you again. Go to Settings -> Equalizer Settings -> Legacy mode

This app overrides Android's default 15-25 volume steps and allows you to set a fully custom number. Other apps may give the illusion of having more volume steps, but this app actually has them.

Modern science tells us that the volume of our music can be just as important as anything else for connecting emotionally. When volume is too loud or too soft for a given song, emotional connection can be lost.

But Precise Volume doesn't just give you more volume steps. It also contains tons of automation features and customization options, such as:

Fully-Featured Equalizer
- Graphic EQ is your standard (but powerful) 10-band Equalizer
- Auto EQ can automatically adjust sound for your specific headphones (compiled by jaakkopasanen - you rock, dude)
- Bass/Compressor boosts bass!
- Reverb creates a simulated environment around your head
- Virtualizer creates a highly immersive surround sound effect
- Volume Booster can be found under Graphic Eq as "post-gain"
- L/R Balance lowers the volume of the left/right channels
- Limiter boosts volume as it safeguards your audio from going above a certain level, while keeping quality

Volume Booster
- Careful with this!

Automation
- Apps Automation (activate presets when apps are opened/closed)
- Bluetooth Automation (activate presets when Bluetooth is connected/disconnected)
- USB DAC Automation (activate presets when your USB DAC is connected/disconnected)
- Headphone Jack Automation (activate presets when headphone jack is plugged/unplugged)
- Date/Time Automation (activate presets at specific dates/times, repetition options included)
- Boot Automation (activate presets when device boots)

Volume Presets
- Pre-define volume and other settings to apply later (can be used with automation, etc). Create specific presets for all of your headphones, for your car, etc.

Equalizer Presets
- Pre-define Equalizer settings for use later (can be used with automation, etc). Create specific presets for your every mood (or headphones!)

Media Locker
- Lock volume buttons to media (system-wide). No longer will you have to guess whether media or ringer will be adjusted

No Root Required

PRO Features
- Up to 1,000 volume steps
- Custom volume increments
- Unlimited volume presets (free users limited to 5)
- Volume Button Override gives you more volume steps anywhere on your device

Sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Found a setting/checkbox “Disable Volume Precision” that is sometimes on the ”Precision Volume” screen and sometimes under the three dots menu. This setting/checkbox moves around in the UI and turns itself on/off when using the app with cell phone and BT headphones. I want precise volume from both my phone and headphone buttons but the app turns PV on off depending on which buttons are used. I can’t pay for Pro until this setting is more consistent.

Works as intended + great support! I use this to lower the volume on my Bluetooth earbuds, which are *way too loud*, while still allowing me to use system volume for fine control. This is the best app for that use case I've been able to find. I'm also very happy that the creator responded to me and help me figure out an issue when I ran into one (older phone, needed to turn on Legacy mode). Definitely worth the money I paid.

Not What I Expected because the volume steps are still too coarse*. Has a decent equalizer that integrates well with Y/T music and some other apps that I have. Most other EQs have no effect at all. I thought I was getting "precise volume" finer volume step graduation. Apparently not. The volume controls could use about double the resolution. UPDATE: The higher res is in the premium version. Also, there are sophisticated volume profiles that are user calibrated in all versions. Revised rating! +

What's new

Version 2.0.0-beta-11b:
- Improved current volume detection across the board
- Better handling of Automation when an EQ Preset and a Volume Preset (that contains an EQ preset instruction) are both activated at the same time
- Will now ask if you'd like to enable the Equalizer when an EQ preset is chosen via an "Activate EQ preset" dialog
- Added workaround for an issue with Silent Mode
- Lots of little bug fixes and improvements
