This Android app works together with the vWork web platform to provide a complete scheduling, dispatch, and job tracking solution for businesses with field workers. Workers use the app to view assigned jobs, update progress, capture required information, and stay connected with dispatchers throughout the workday.

Real-time location tracking
vWork supports live GPS location tracking while a worker is actively on duty. This allows dispatchers to see current worker locations on the vWork website to improve scheduling, routing, and job coordination.
To support this, the app uses a foreground service for location tracking while a worker is working. When enabled, this service runs with a visible notification so the user is always aware that location tracking is active. Location tracking can be started and stopped by the user based on their work status.
Job data syncing and uploads
While workers are actively completing jobs, vWork may need to upload or download job data, photos, documents, and updates in real time to keep dispatchers informed and to prevent data loss.
For these user-initiated actions, the app uses a foreground data synchronization service with a visible notification. This ensures important job updates, images, and signatures are reliably transferred even when the app is not in the foreground or when network conditions are changing.
Foreground services are used only during active work tasks and are not used for background or unrelated processing.
