About this app

Grocy is a self-hosted groceries and household management solution for your home. Go to grocy.info for more information about the project.

Grocy for Android uses Grocy's official API to provide you a beautiful interface on your phone with powerful barcode scanning and intuitive batch processing, all what you need to efficiently manage your groceries.

This app requires a running self-hosted instance of the grocy server application. It is a companion app, therefore it cannot run standalone or manage products itself!
You can try and test all features using the demo option available on the login screen.

Features:
• Stock overview
• Shopping lists with offline support
• In-store shopping mode with big UI elements
• Fast barcode scanning
• App shortcuts
• OpenFoodFacts implementation
• Master data editing
• Dark mode

Furthermore:
• Open-source: github.com/patzly/grocy-android
• No ads or analytics
• Material Components
• Small app size (~30MB)

Contribution:
If you run into a bug or miss a feature, feel free to give feedback in the app, send us an email or open an issue on GitHub.
Like the grocy project, Grocy Android can be translated, too. Please go to our GitHub page for more information.

Compatibility:
Grocy Android requires at least grocy 3.1.3 on your server.
It is also possible to use the grocy Add-on on a Hass.io server. Our FAQ on GitHub explains how to do that.

This app supports https encryption if your server uses a certificate which is signed by a public and trusted certificate authority (CA). To meet this requirement, you can use a free certificate from letsencrypt.org for your server. Old Android devices can have problems with newer CAs because their internal list of trusted CAs can be outdated if they don't receive system updates anymore.
Grocy Android also supports encryption if your server uses a self-signed certificate. In this case the certificate must be stored in the Android user certificate store.

We'd like to thank the developer of Grocy, Bernd Bestel, without whose great work this app would never have been possible.

Great app overall the only improvement I can think of is the ability to set a custom URL for the server instance so I can use a redirect service to access it remotely. Edit:it doesn't let me edit the server URL field, long pressing does nothing and tapping it tries to open it in a browser. Edit2: your "brother" blew me off and said that I should inquire here

Edit: Anyway you can edit your server url simply by logging out and logging with another url back in. Please ask further questions on GitHub where my brother can help you more. Edit2: What? Where and when? My brother (yes we are indeed brothers) doesn't even know what your wish exactly means and he also would not refer to Google Play?

Very nice interface! A handy way to scan items into the server instance. It updates almost instantly. The only feature I could think of to request would be an offline shopping mode. I created a shopping list on the server and it populated to my Android, but when I leave my local network, the app indicates "Offline". It would be very handy to be able to work from the list and enter items as "Done" or, better yet, "Purchased" so the price could be entered at the store. Then, when back on my network and connected to the server, the current price would be included in the upload.

Thank you! My brother is already working on a better offline integration, but the shopping list of the current version should work offline as well. The items are synced with an offline database and you should be able to go offline, open the lists and mark items as done as usual. The changes are then synced with the server when you're back online.

Overall the app works great, with some features missing but listed as coming. I was surprised by the scanning feature picked up some foods automatically. One thing that I noticed was, when using a Nabu Casa url to log in it looses the images of the recipes, which makes it harder to sell the idea of using the app to my girlfriend.
