About this app

READ is an interactive mobile application applicable to mobile devices, adapted for children with disabilities that contains a wide selection of sound-based literary content for the primary school age. It is primarily intended for children who have specific difficulties in reading, learning and comprehension, children with speech and / or speech impairments and with specific difficulties in concentration and memory in order to overcome reading and comprehension difficulties more easily.

The content of the app is audio formatted with acting voices and additional sound features. What makes it attractive and different from a regular audio book is that while the selected content is simultaneously listened to interpreted by the human voice (audio book) and read as an e-book, sentences are automatically color-coded for visibility, clarity and focus.

Likewise, the interactive mobile Read app allows you to compare text in pronouncing problematic words, namely the small user immediately gets feedback on the success of their reading through a micro activity ('Read As Read-CCC) that compares the user's pronunciation frequency and voice, and its accuracy; that feedback gives the answer in percentages and also in the motivational message.

The implementation of this program establishes a new model of access and accessibility of cultural content for children with disabilities, ie the implementation of inclusion as a strategic value of society confirms the National Strategy for Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities 2017-2020. At the same time, its activation is carried out in 2021 - the year of reading in the Republic of Croatia.
